Update!

This week we had a special visit from some German, Swiss, Austrian, & Argentinian brothers and sisters that are serving in the German field in Paraguay and Argentina. They were on a special two week tour of Chile to canvas the territory for German speakers and assess the need here in that language. We had a special preaching day arranged on Wednesday to take them to any of our return visits in the Valparaiso area that we had record of as ones who spoke German. One of the German couples serving in Paraguay worked with Derek and I and I was able to take the brother on one of my return visits who is German. They had a nice, long conversation and he was able to place the book God's Word or Man's in German with him. At the end of the day they made contact with many German speaking people and had some great success. Even though we don't speak German it was nice to see how large Jehovah's organization is and what great lengths the brothers and sisters go to in order to see that this work is fully accomplished.

On another note, for those of you who don't know, Derek and I are having to cut our time here in Chile a little shorter than we were hoping. We will be heading back to the states the end of this month and we will officially be back at home in Seattle the middle of January. We will have been here for a total of 9 months and even though we were hoping for a year we feel very satisfied and happy with what we were able to accomplish and the great experiences we have had in that little time. We can't believe how time flies! Our plan is to move into a local Spanish congregation in Seattle and get a good grasp on  the language before our next venture... 

The pictures above are of a little town called Pucon, we went there two weekends ago by a 12 hour bus ride! The geography is absolutely stunning, we constantly felt as if we were standing right in a paradise picture from one of our publications. In the area there are several active volcanos and the last picture is of one of Chile's most active volcanoes, Volcano Villarrica. It was pretty amazing to see it smoking at the top all day long! What a sight!
